My classroom is a self-contained special education class with fourth and fifth grade students who are significantly below grade level. There are 7 fourth graders and 5 fifth graders.

They are fourth and fifth graders working at 1-3 grade level. Owing to the fact that my students have varying abilities and disabilities, it is difficult to motivate and sustain their interest. It also becomes more difficult as I have to teach both 4th and 5th grade curriculum and lack the resources to successfully do my job.

My students need compasses, protractors, a multipurpose dry erase board,and a Social Studies learning center. These resources will help to improve awareness of their culture and improve the understanding of mathematical concepts, thus promoting greater success for all.

It is imperative at this turn of the Century that we prepare our students for the significant challenges of today's world. I would like as an educator to motivate and educate my students to achieve maximum success. In trying to make my class as interesting and life - changing as possible I would like your assistance in contributing to this improved experience for my students.
