Ninety percent of our students receive free and reduced lunch. Most of our monies are spent for personnel and programs with little left for luxury or necessity. I would like to have four matching plastic storage carts to be able to neatly store my Literacy Center Materials for my class. Children in my class are allowed to chose materials and this will provide an easier way for materials to be used and then put away neatly. My classroom is small and neatness and organization are concerns.

Children learn with hands on classroom activities during Literacy Centers. I have centers ranging from writing letters with shaving creme, reading the room, reading poem cards, to retell activities with puppets. However fun and educational, the number of materials can be cumbersome and difficult to store to allow for easy child access. It is a necessity to have better storage for the children to provide a safe, organized learning environment. These plastic tubs will allow the children to reach the materials since the carts are low, and will allow for proper clean up afterward. Young children learn to clean up and develop organizational skills during the clean up time. Storage carts will allow for easier access to use the materials and clean up will be a breeze. Removing huge nonfunctional pieces of furniture will allow me to better use that dead space for something else for the children. That will be my next grant!

My classroom is very large and many of the shelves I have are oversize and odd shaped. The furniture, however large, is configured strangely and does more to take up space/than it does to store materials. Our school does not have extra furniture so getting this handy storage carts will help free up good space that can be better used and will allow for better storage for the materials I have for the children.

Thank you for helping me organize materials and make materials readily accessible for Kindergarten learners!
