I am a first year teacher in a suburban Atlanta school. I teach an amazing group of second graders. It is truly a diverse class in ethnicity and academic levels.
As a first year teacher I have very few supplies and they are running out quickly. My students are active learners and need more than worksheets. I have tons of ideas, but not enough supplies to see them through.
Our reading and writing time could be greatly improved with more paper. As the year progresses all types of paper become scarce. They need plain white paper to brainstorm and plenty of writing paper so they don't feel confined to one page. We like to create class stories. With large post-it paper we can display the steps of the writing process and help students as they work on individual writings.
Things like post-its and sentence strips are colorful and fun for students to use in centers and activities across the curriculum.
Please help give students the supplies they need. You will make it possible for them to have engaging activities all year, not just until the supplies purchased on my meager school and personal budget run out.
