Kids want to sew for animals! I teach 7th grade in a low-income public school. This is a special project for my Extended Class which is a class based on learning character values and community service.

The students were discussing different ideas of community service projects and they are very interested in making pillows and blankets for our local animal shelter. They want to learn to sew and make these items.

In order to complete this project we will need sewing machines, thread, stuffing, and batting. This project will benefit the kids in couple different ways. They will learn to sew, which is always a great skill to know. They will also learn to be proud of themselves for making the items, and also for helping the animals.

You will make it possible for these students to complete a community service project they feel very strongly about. This will give them a sense of accomplishment and pride. Hopefully, they will want to continue helping others.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
