Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a second grade teacher at Public School 284, located in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York. Our school is a Title I School, with approximately 95-99% of our students eligible for free lunch and breakfast. I have an overhead projector but I don't have a screen. I use a large piece of white paper that really does not work. Before the lesson is over the sheet ends up falling. I have to stop in the middle of a lesson, pick up and re-tape the paper. By that time I have lost more than half of the class's attention. Using the overhead becomes such a chore that I tend not to really use it. Our school is beginning a new reading program that comes with a wonderful set of teaching transparencies and I would love to be able to use them with the overhead projector and a wall screen to demonstrate a skill to the whole class. The students are all able to see what I am doing and they are also very engaged because they are seeing everything on the screen. I am asking for a 50" x 50" full screen. Our sincere thanks.
