I teach in a large, K-8 school in North Phoenix. Each day, I teach four sections of fourth-grade social studies and writing. I have a total of 110 faces coming through my door, depending on me to teach them the skills that they need to be successful not only in my class, but in life.
My students come from all different backgrounds, each bringing their own unique skill set to class.
Some of my students are performing above grade-level, the majority are performing at grade-level, and some are performing below grade-level. One thing that all of my students have in common is that they care about their learning and want to be successful.
My Project
It's hard to concentrate on anything else when you're uncomfortable. You are constantly thinking of the pain that you're in and waiting for relief. No adult is exactly the same size and neither are my students, yet all of my desks and chairs are created the exact same position and height. I want to give my students flexible seating options so that they can be comfortable while learning.
With flexible seating options, my students will be able to focus on their most important job, which is learning, rather than thinking about being uncomfortable.
It is my goal to meet my students' academic, physical and emotional needs throughout the school year.
