Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Someone once said, "Let us explore the world and create some wonderful things while you are exploring."
My goal this school year is to give my students lots of opportunities to explore and create wonderful things.
The kids at our school are second grade through sixth grade students, and most of these students are English language learners. All of our students are enthusiastic learners who, regardless of the obstacles they may face at home, come to school with a thirst for knowledge and the urge to try and experience new things every day.
My Project
My students are starting a new science unit that will focus on how climate change causes habitat loss and species extinction. Our main focus for this unit will be the effects of plastic bottled water on the environment. My students will examine the use of bottled water and its connection to the problem of plastic pollution in our oceans. As a culminating experience, students will develop a project to raise awareness in the community about the problem of plastic waste. My students need an iPad to conduct their research for this and other future projects.
My goal is to give my students the opportunity to engage in activities that demonstrate the connection between plastic water bottle use and the global problem of plastic pollution in our ocean.
The iPad will give my students the opportunity to conduct their research about this problem our planet is facing and take action.
