My Students

My students are elementary age special education students. They are wonderful kids who work hard every day to improve their communication skills. Many of my students are working on social skills and understanding how to best communicate with their peers.

My students are highly motivated by books and multi-sensory materials that help them learn new communication skills!

Our school also has a STEM focus so we try to integrate science and technology in our daily learning at our school. Although my students may have communication delays, they can do great things!

My Project

These STEM problem-solving and challenge kits will help develop problem-solving, social and communication skills for my special education students. These kits provide structured teaching opportunities for learning to problem-solve and compromise while working with others.

We will use each kit over several days to practice planning, making predictions, testing solutions, and problem-solving when things don't go as planned.

My special education learners are often working on communicating with others, staying calm when faced with problems, and finding appropriate solutions to problems. These STEM kits will be highly motivating because they are engaging and hands-on. My students will be thrilled to work in a group setting on such fun projects while learning science and engineering concepts!
