Help me give my students Silhouette Cameo (with accessories), so we can raise awareness of diversity.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students have lived in a historical neighborhood where both students and their families have attended the school. The neighborhood has a significant research history in our community and with the families who send their children to our school.
We are a universal free lunch school.
Students are eager to come to school each day and learn but are significantly lower than their national peers in their reading performance. Students' personal book libraries and technology access beyond the classroom are limited.
These students are thirsty to learn, research, and integrate technology into their education. My students enjoy creating PowerPoint projects, public service announcements and research projects quarterly in their English Language Arts and social studies classes. The students are in grades 6th through 8th grade.
The requested materials will enable my students to learn about empathy and tolerance. They will use the heat press and vinyl to create t-shirts and tote bags to wear at school to teach their peers about tolerance and kindness.
As my students move through life, they need to learn how to be tolerant and accepting of others regardless of race, religion, sex, or lifestyle of even been homeless.
We will use these resources to create t-shirts sweatshirts, hoodies and tote bags to wear at school in order to create awareness of diversity, empathy and the effects of bullying. The students who are struggling with homelessness will be able to receive a shirt and/or a hoodie to keep. The materials will help them create clothing with positive sayings which will build character and self esteem along with dealing directly with bullying issue. We will also make hoodies to drop off at homeless shelters to help prepare the homeless community for winter.
We will continue to learn to accept the diversity and differences of others. I want them to celebrate the uniqueness of all people. It will also teach leadership, compassion and acceptance, and how to be a positive role model in the community. We are striving to have a bully-free school environment where they will be able to make a difference.
