The students in my class are hard working and come from different backgrounds. Many of them are from bilingual homes and almost all families are faced with hard times. The families are determined to help their children and that teaches the kids to face all of their challenges head on. They are learning to use their life's challenges as stepping stones to better themselves.
Our school is a Title 1 school where 100% of our population receive free breakfast and lunch.
My families enjoy helping each other in academics and social-emotional needs. We are all working together to make our class a successful TEAM.
My Project
The family engagement packs and read-a-long books in this project will help families work together, have fun and enhance the learning at home. Many times when kids are struggling on skills in class families want to help, many just don't know how. These items help by empowering the families to practice those skills at home by giving them everything needed to practice and reinforce the skills. Many of my families are Spanish. I purchased books in Spanish to match English versions I have as part of our take home reading. These books will allow that all my families can read together. Parents can read in Spanish while the child follows along in either book.
