My students are a diverse group, with a wide range of academic ability.
They have a variety of learning styles and needs, but they do have one thing in common- they love to learn in new, unique, and exciting ways. I have done some simple versions of escape rooms games- both as a form of review before science assessments, and as a way for students to apply their knowledge to science concepts in a way that is highly motivating and engaging. I have NEVER seen my students so enthusiastic and engrossed in learning! I knew I was on to something big, and I decided to do some more research.
The Breakout EDU game platform has a multitude of resources to reinforce our science content; they will help my students develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving strategies, and teamwork. They can be utilized in a host of different ways- as a review before a classroom or state assessment; to reinforce new science content; and, most importantly, as an opportunity to develop leadership skills, build strong interpersonal relationships, and see learning as FUN!
My Project
This project includes both the kit with all the materials, including a variety of different locks, locking boxes, red lens viewer, UV light, invisible ink pen, as well as 12 months of Platform Access, which also unlocks the Breakout EDU Digital Game creator, a tool that allows the easy creation and sharing of digital games that I can design specifically for my students’ needs.
