My third-grade students are best described as high octane! They are creative, inspiring, and full of life. As their teacher, I strive to provide a learning environment that is challenging without being intimidating. We celebrate hard work and personal growth. Our classroom is a place where communication, collaboration, community, and creativity are nurtured.
We pride ourselves on lifting each other up, as we strive toward a common goal of developing students who are critical thinkers, innovators, and role models.

My Project
My students love creating stop animation videos. Currently we are using commercially made action figures, which is extremely limiting. We would like to take our storytelling to the next level by creating our own action figures with a 3D printer for digital storytelling
In the hands of a third grader, a 3D printer offers a plethora of learning opportunities.
The children will be able to access online resources like Thinkercad to design and perfect their creations before sending the final product to the 3D printer. The children will practice perseverance and develop tenacity as they edit and polish their work. In addition, the children will work in teams to write their own superhero stories, in which the main character over comes a problem. The children will be able to 3D print fully articulated superheroes of their own design to make stop animation videos. Most importantly, they will feel immense pride in literally seeing their project come to life.
Once the projects are printed, the children can use green construction paper and a tablet we already have in class to mimic a green screen and use stop animation to tell their stories using their custom made figures. With your help, this incredible resource will soon be in our classroom! Thank you for your kind consideration.
