My Students

My students are not your typical high school science students. We are a small charter school that provides students hands-on experience in automotive work, graphic design and welding. Students receive their high school diploma as well as other certifications. These students often do not have solid backgrounds in the sciences and providing hands-on experiences gives students a chance to really understand the information and make it their own. I hope to provide that chance with more materials and more opportunities for my students.

My Project

These materials will allow me to offer lab opportunities that I am unable to offer at the moment. Having a scale in class will give students a chance to weigh their own materials and provide them a chance to gain real lab skills. The hotplates will be useful when we do labs such as examining melting and boiling points in physical science. Thermometers will come in handy with a variety of labs. I teach multiple sciences and can use thermometers in Earth Science while looking at how different substances heat up at different rates as well as Physical Science with our melting and boiling points lab.
