Ms. Goode from Charlotte NC is requesting professional development through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
I need a powerful Professional Development to help me become a game changer in my classroom and in the lives of students.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I've had the great pleasure of working on the West side of Charlotte for the past three years, where the majority of my students are living at or below the poverty line. I have some super SHARP second graders who love to learn and have fun. These students come to school daily with different outside struggles which affect learning in many different ways, but try their best to come to school and learn and enjoy just being a kid.
The students I serve are some of the most deserving students who live in some of the most undeserved circumstances.
In Charlotte and other Southern cities, poor children have the lowest odds of making it to the top income bracket of kids anywhere in the country. My goal as a teacher is to do my best to give them a fighting chance while having some fun in the process.
I want to light my fire again. The Get Your Teach On training in Washington D.C. offers teachers the chance to learn from passionate educators about a more hands-on approach in the classroom. This year my goal as a professional is to increase my engagement and my means of meeting ALL of my students where they are through hands-on high energy lessons.
The Get Your Teach On conference will allow me to unlock the potential in my classroom by teaching me to create dynamic lessons that will challenge my students and get them excited and ready to come back for more.
I hope to be able to use this training to transform my classroom into a place of learning, discovery, and exploration for all students through hands-on experiences and research based activities to promote student engagement and learning.
