Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are typically low socio-economic children from non-traditional family situations. Our class size is kept to a minimum to allow for small group and one-on-one instruction to facilitate the learners in their educational endeavors.
My school is categorized as an "at-risk" school.
The students here are trying to graduate and generally, pursue either a trade school or junior college program before either joining the work force or going on to an institute of higher learning.
My students and I are very grateful for programs such as Donor's Choose that enable us to use such cutting edge technology.
My Project
My students will be able to use the Fitbits and apple watch to monitor steps/heart rate/etc. We will then acquire skills to graph such data first on paper and then make it come to life on their Ipad. This enables them to further their mathematical knowledge as well as encourage them to get out and move!
Students today are too sedentary and the Apple Watch and fitbits will be tangible reminders as to how active they are being.
The iPad will just be icing on the cake as far as the wonderful charts and graphs we will be able to make with their own personal data.
