Reading Every Day Keeps Illiteracy at Bay!

My Students

My school is a Title I school, so most of the students I teach are of low socioeconomic status. My students don't have access to the same resources that other students do in the county. I try to enrich their education with books and materials they don't have access to at home. My students are wonderful and are passionate about learning.

The students in my class are eager to learn but most lack the resources and home support to sufficiently meet the demands of the rigorous curriculum.

I believe that in order to meet these demands, my class needs to have the same opportunities as students in other areas. DonorsChoose.org is a wonderful way to get the supplies and resources for my class.

My Project

These books will help my students improve on their fluency and comprehension. Many of my low-income students don't have access to books outside of school, and I have seen great gains using book studies in my classroom. Students enjoy reading aloud and working in small groups.

Reading every day keeps illiteracy at bay!

This is the motto of my classroom, and I plan to push my students to read as much as they can this year. Students will participate in oral reading, book discussions, and comprehension activities. These will ready them for the rigorous testing at the end of the year.
