My Students
My students are very confident, are eager to be involved, and want to and can accept a great deal of responsibility. They like going places and doing things, such as working on projects, experimenting, and working with others. Socially, kindergarten children are at the same time solitary and independent workers and growing in their ability and desire to work cooperatively with others. They want to be successful! Their combination of a “can do” attitude and their cooperation and responsibility make our time together FUN!
My Kinders come to school excited, happy, and ready to learn!
We are a low income school, in which I provide a lot for my students. They come from a variety of backgrounds. Their parents are hard workers who send me their very best! They want their children to be intrinsically motivated to learn.
My Project
My students and I are full of energy and love being at school. Sitting in hard chairs for the majority of their day is not helping them become the best students they can be. They need more flexible/comfortable seating options to enhance student engagement and learning. Studies show students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable. With flexible seating, students are able to learn in a way that is the best for them, whether it is bouncing on an exercise ball, sit on a wobble stool, or using a wiggle seat.
I want my Kindergarten class to be a Starbucks for kids.
A space where they have the opportunity to sit comfortably and move around while they are learning, minus the coffee!! The wobble stools will allow active students who want to sit at a desk to have the ability to move around while working - yet still sitting at a desk. The wiggle cushions will allow students to have some wiggle time will working, and the ball stools will allow proper posture and movement while working.
This project would significantly help my students stay engaged in our learning throughout the day. I want them to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom. I cannot wait to see all of the things we can do with flexible seating!
