Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Traditions, roots, families, bilingualism, and becoming a more educated and knowledgeable person are some of the great values of my students. Every school year I receive with open arms about 80 souls that trust in me to help them to be empowered students.
The smell of new supplies, new books, waxed floors and all those things that involve the beginning of the school year is probably the most exciting moment to us.
And as the beginning of the school year approaches, I like to take some time and reflect about the good, the not so good perhaps, and specially the things that can be improved and how to make things better for my students and the school community.
This is the reason I would like you to be part of the excitement by giving us a powerful hand to make things better and enrich even more our learning experiences to become even better human beings.
My Project
A new school year always comes with the spirit of gaining and providing new, different, and exciting learning opportunities. In a time of self-reflection prior to the beginning of the school year, I like to brainstorm and envision what resources could make this experience even more meaningful and valuable.
Yes, we teachers need to study and take an end of the year assessment that can help us analyze and reflect about the needs of our students, their interests, challenges, and ways to help them grow.
During these past years in the classroom, I have seen a great need of Bilingual Resources for the upper grade levels. These particular materials will help me and my students to target reading comprehension instruction in small groups, the skill of using dictionaries to determine meaning of unknown words and the ability to fluently read and understand Non Fiction literature.
