Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are awesome! These kids come to school daily with a willingness and eagerness to learn. They come from various backgrounds and are always excited to learn how to work side by side with another peer to accomplish goals and learn tolerance for new skills being taught. As a special education teacher, I serve students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder, Down Syndrome, and ADHD.
My classroom is a melting pot of different level of abilities.
The students I teach are 60 % in a self-contained classroom and participate in an alternative curriculum as they are below their grade level in all academic areas and some functional areas. They are in the general education setting for two of their electives.
My Project
The HSM Securio B26 paper shredder I have asked for will allow my students to have what they need everyday to be successful in all of their classes. My students are in the process of learning about money, and filling out applications for jobs including opening up banking accounts. In teaching my students the importance of keeping financial information secure and teaching job skills, we are working on the skill of shredding documents with information that details a persons income, their address, and personal banking information. The students are handling a numerous amount of important documents because each one of my students has a special struggle in class. I serve students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder, Down Syndrome, and ADHD. Making sure we teach the students about confidential information and how to keep it safe and dispose of it is an important factor to helping our students be successful.
These supplies will make sure they have everything they need to succeed in financial literacy and employability skills.
