My school has approximately 2400 students from all walks of life, but about 50% of them come from low-income families and neighborhoods. Our students work hard and try their best to make themselves and their school better.
Professional business attire is required for our students to participate in district, state, and national competitions.
Many of our students are active in student organizations that require business attire and low income students do not have this type of attire in their closets.
My Project
Many lower income families cannot afford to purchase the required business attire needed to compete in student organization competitions such as the Future Business Leaders of America as well as be able to dress appropriately for a job interview. The business attire will be borrowed for specific events and then returned by the student so it can be cleaned and ready to go for the next student that may need it.
Professional business attire will be available to students in need without putting a burden on the parents' pocketbook.
These students usually have their membership dues covered by the organization so they can join them, but the business attire is still needed for them to fully participate in all of the events. The school's business department will maintain the clothing which will include displaying the attire and cleaning after each use.
These organizations and their events, prepare students for the future. The business attire will ensure that all students have the same opportunity.
