Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Even though our students are faced with economic challenges, they are highly motivated to learn new ideas and continuously exploring their potential.
Our students are amazing group of explorers and thinkers that is significantly motivated when given new resources that they know they have to focus on so they can learn new skills.
Being a Title I school with 90% free lunch and a community with high poverty rate, I hope to continuously give my students the inspiration to be lifetime learners and succeed in their field of choice by offering them hands-on and creative learning opportunities. For this reason, I am motivated to provide them with the technological tools and skills they needed to succeed now and in the future.
My Project
Our goal is to give our students hands-on experience in series of lessons about architecture. Then, they will use Lego Architecture and Meccano building sets to design and create different famous public structures. They will set and follow their building plans. Then, they will write about the purpose of these designs and how these designs accomplished that purpose. With this project, our students will have a better understanding of the structures they encounter so they can interact with their environment in a personal way that reflects and empowers them as individuals.
Using the materials familiar to them, our students will be encouraged to explore and participate in the understanding of Art and Architectural process.
The architectural projects, will be shared with other students and the school community by conducting an architectural, interactive exhibit. They will provide not only engagement and collaboration for student but also offer to escalate their confidence to succeed.
