This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students at M. are amazing! Students here love to be active and often struggle to focus in traditional classroom settings. Our kids thrive when being hands-on in their learning! We are considered a renewal school, a community school and a Title I school. Although that means we have lots of support, it means we need as much as we can get!
Students are faced with many adversities on a daily basis.
Many of our students are exposed to community violence, cyclical poverty and limited access to health and wellness needs. Students here will continue to overcome these obstacles with our support!
My Project
Making hygiene kits will inspire our students to actively participate in building positive hygiene habits. Hygiene kits will include deodorant and body wash for students to take home. Out students will get kits when participating in life skills classes and health classes as to not make certain students stand out more than others. Additionally, these kits will help students who are new to the country learn about our cultural norms.
Students will be given the opportunity to get hygiene kits throughout the school year and will develop healthy habits which lead to better self esteem and self worth!
Being a middle schooler is hard enough, not having access to the building blocks of good habits shouldn't be another boundary!
