My Aerospace Engineering students are eager to be able to put their developing engineering skills to use by designing solutions to problems that they care about. My students are in the final year of a four-year sequence of engineering courses aimed at increasing the number, quality, and diversity of students who go into engineering.
Reaching the edge of space is an exciting way to engage my students in an authentic learning experience.
My students are eager to do authentic work!
My Project
Our goal is to launch a high altitude balloon to an altitude of 100,000 feet. The flight computer and transmitter will be used to record in real time the altitude and temperature of the capsule as it climbs. The GPS module will allow us to track the position of the payload and most importantly, recover it!
My students have a passion for space exploration and they want to launch a payload to the edge of space.
Our goal is to launch numerous payloads over time so that our passion for space exploration can be shared with others. We will take record data and of course take breathtaking photos with the camera.
