Slow & Steady Doesn't Always Win The Race

My students need a HP desktop classroom computer that they can use to write reports, do internet research, and print out homework.

My classroom contains a diverse (racial, economic, religious, etc...) group of students in which no one individual could belong to a "majority" except for the kids who belong to the "no computer at home" group. I teach 7th Grade Core which means I get to spend half of my day with the same 30 students (a gift, trust me) teaching them writing, literature, social studies, and basically how to be better human beings. We are a high poverty & high pride school.

We are blessed with one classroom computer. I know this is something that lots of classrooms don't have. Unfortunately this computer was manufactured in 1994, it moves super slow and crashes/freezes up/freaks out on a regular basis; I'm hesitant to let students use it during class because I know they will get tied-up waiting for the programs to load, files to open, Internet to connect, etc... This is a great group of kids, many of whom do not have access to computers outside of our school's small (and also old) computer lab. You can help change that for them.

All I'm asking for is one desktop computer. The computer I've selected has enough memory and speed to make a classroom computer the useful tool it is supposed to be and not a box in the back that only causes trouble. I'll connect it with the monitor we already have and try to get a new monitor donated later, but right now I'd love your help in connecting my classroom to 21st Century.
