My classroom is filled with students with unique backgrounds. Living and working in a rural agricultural community in the central valley of California brings hardworking families to my classroom each year. These parents are so passionate about giving their children a better life and a strong educational foundation.
My students are so eager to learn and bring their experiences into the classroom.
With as much support as parents can provide, we together build a great educational experience for each student.
My Project
My third grade students get a 15 minute recess break and a 20 minute lunch recess break in the afternoon. So it is my responsibility as a teacher to bring as much physical activities into my classroom.
For example, I am requesting jump ropes that can be used during recess but I can also use them during math as a very visual way to represent a number line.
On my wish list for years, has been a mini basketball hoop for learning spelling words or new vocabulary. It has been proven that including activities where students are being active and out of their seat they better able to obtain information. I kindly requested a bean bag toss game which would be great for learning their multiplication facts.
I also asked for some recess gear (soccer balls, basketballs, a football) because last year I bought two volleyballs for my classroom and they have been well loved.
