I've requested rocking chairs, end tables, a rug, and ambient lighting to create a comfortable coffee house corner in my classroom. I will use the corner to hold individual student conferences, facilitate small group work, and incentivize hard work by offering alternate seating to students that are participating and taking their work seriously. I want my kids to feel like coming to our classroom is a privilege. I want them to have something to look forward to. The chairs and coffee house environment will help me meet with my students to discuss their writing in a neutral environment and provide honest, skill-based feedback in a non-intimidating setting.

About my class
