I teach 6th graders at our middle school. Our school is submersed in the community and encourage students to take ownership of their learning. This year's group of students are motivated learners who have a strong desire to perform to their highest potential. My first classes of the day consist of 23 and 18 students. More than 80% of them are not meeting grade level standards (according to FCAT). Not only do these students work hard in class, complete their homework and ask great questions, but 12 of them come in 2 to 4 days a before school for additional tutoring (30 minutes each session). Many more of them stay after school every Wednesday for extra help. I am happy to donate my mornings tutoring this diverse group of students which include a variety of exceptionalities such as: learning disabilities, autism, language impairments and other health impairments.
