Our students are 17-20 years old, struggling to finish public high school, on individualized education plans, and live in poverty. They come from 36 schools in 15 districts across 3 counties. They attend our non-profit school for 3 hours per day for aerospace assembly mechanic training, after which, they work on the assembly floor, earning a wage, while they earn high school credit. We provide all the instructional materials they need. We do not charge the students nor the sending schools. We only ask that the sending districts bus the students to our site. Students must interview to be accepted here and we always have a waiting list. Students stay with us throughout the school year, and some are even invited to work full time here over the summer. Some even come back for a second year if needed. Our full time regular staff work one on one with the students to ensure superlative skill acquisition. They learn to build everything from landing gear to electrical cable harnesses.
