My students seek visual stimulation from the florescent lights in the classroom. This is causing loss of instructional time and increased redirection. The addition of light covers will improve student participation and maximize effective instructional time by limiting the level of visual stimuli in the classroom. This donation will make a huge impact on each student’s ability to effectively access the curriculum by limiting distraction, decreasing anxiety, and promoting self-regulation. The goal of implementing these supplies into the autism classroom is to provide students with even more resources specifically designed to improve their lives academically, emotionally, and behaviorally. Providing students with the accommodations they need to be successful is challenging, but extremely rewarding. With these donations my students will continue to move towards achieving their highest potential.
