My students come from many countries like Myanmar, Mexico, Columbia, Laos, El Salvador, etc.. Most of them are first or second generation immigrants from low income households. Many of the children serve as interpreters for their parents and are a major source of information for their parents. I call my kids "the little sponges" because they are so eager to learn.
