Helping my students by supporting my project will help them with some special needs they have. We have a unique set of students in the class that come with challenges. One of the biggest challenges is many people including doctors and other professionals tell them and their parents, "I am sorry they can't, or I am sorry they won't" I, with my team of amazing paraprofessionals want to change those can'ts and won'ts to CAN and WILL! My students need the right equipment to thrive and to be the best they can be, that takes a lot of money, money that is hard for any school to get, I am hoping by putting this project together my class will have just a few more items to help to make them successful. An adaptive bowl to help a student to not wear their food on them is so important for them as they are hitting an age where they are embarrassed by different events. Some switches to help another student make independent decisions throughout their day. Velcro, is a high need as we use a lot of Velcro due to the students not being a able to write but we can still learn by making choices by putting pictures of choices with Velcro and added it to a laminated folder. The items on this list is valuable, a weighted blanket to help a student when it is rest time be able to relax and get some rest. We have students who are in wheelchairs, those wheelchairs do not come with a tray, so they are not able to do any writing when they want to practice. A writing lap pad will be beneficial for them. Thank you so much for helping my Life Skill Classroom. We all appreciate you so much!
