The students in my art classes attend a public school located in a large metropolitan city. The school population is culturally diverse and represents all social-economic levels. Our school has been faced with financial cut backs which in turn has hurt my art program. My students enjoy when they see me coming down the hall towards their class because they love art. Some students struggle in academics but they shine in my art class which helps build their self-esteem. The students in my classes come from a range of ethnic and economic backgrounds and many are provided free and reduced lunch. They LOVE working with clay and seeing their finished piece. I travel on a cart from room to room with all my materials. My cart has its limitations like size and space for all the supplies. It would be such a blessing to have a slab roller with a cart so my students could experience this method of building with clay which would open so many possibilities for them through clay.
