It is important to me that my students feel that they have many books to choose from in my classroom library. I have received grants in the past to add to my library and when the students receive the books, they light up. They are so incredibly excited that they can't wait to read the books. They want to read them as soon as we unpack the boxes. The impact of these books will be across the curriculum. This will impact not only reading, but social studies as well. These fiction and non-fiction books will allow my students to read and learn about social studies objectives as well as increase reading skills. I want my kids to foster their love for reading. If I am able to reach at least one new student who didn't really like to read, then it is worth it. Having an interest in reading doesn't just go away. They will remember how much of an impact this donation made in their life for years to come. It will also impact not only my kids this year, but my kids in many years to come as well.
