My students are 9th - 12th grade, Art I - Art III. We work with all kinds of materials, especially clay, to create art. The process of art making is the moment of sparkle, when the student no longer is worried about what will await them at home, or the test that they might have failed, or even where they will sleep that night, but they can smile at what their hands just accomplished. Originally, my request was for a pug mill to aid in the recycling use of clay for our classroom. Now that Covid has changed education, my request has changed also. A basic art kit that each of my students will have their own safe materials to create their theraputic art, even if they are quarantined at home or in the classroom. This kit will aid in student creativity which in turn will aid in student emotional health. I know every teacher and student needs extra help right now, thank you for choosing my students at Vidor ISD.
