The students in my 1st Grade classroom come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. About 30% are English Learners. I focus on "BEAR CODE" behavior and Academic Achievement for all students. Students study "BEAR CODE" behavior...be safe, engage in learning, act responsibly and respectfully. Students receive instruction in "Second Step", which includes strategies to support healthy socio-emotional health. Student literacy is achieved through the use of research based curriculum, assessment and professional development. Students that are English Learners receive daily support through designated ELD instruction. I make learning fun and interesting by incorporating literature, math, music and movement, art, science and social studies across the curriculum.
