My students are learning about financial literacy in a program I am using called “The Classroom Economy.” Students have jobs, earn money, pay rent, deposit money in the “bank”, pay fines, pay electricity, earn money for good behavior, and balance bank accounts. The program provides students the real world experience of earning, saving, and spending money. Each student has a classroom job so they can earn money and attend the “auction” at the end of the month and spend any “classroom economy money” they may have saved. We are in need of supplies, such as, candy, water bottles, personal accessories, art projects, etc. that will motivate teenage students to earn and save money, so they can make a "purchase" at the monthly auctions. Students are vested into handling their money responsibly, and we need to keep the excitement going as they are rewarded at the auction.
