My students live in a high poverty area and all receive federal funding for both breakfast and lunch. My 4th-grade students do not come to school with their own school supplies. Most of our classroom equipment is broken. As our families struggle to keep a roof over their heads and food on their table, school supplies are not on their list of priorities. My classroom needs essential items to make learning possible.
