This is a new classroom with few to no materials. The current classroom is lacking the foundational materials necessary for the preschool students to succeed. These students deserve the best that there is to offer. The program is growing and with that growth there is a need for materials. The current lack of materials for these students is disheartening. The students should be immersed in a classroom that has a plethora of resources for them to succeed outside of the special education setting. These materials will help these students to expand their social and academic abilities in and outside the classroom. The materials within this list are created to help aid in the students’ success. Many of the students within the classroom do not come from backgrounds where they are able to play with toys and expand their creative minds. The students are in need of these materials to help guide them into productive members of society. Due to this class being preschool students with special needs, the best thing we can do is help them grow into individuals who can function in a general education setting. We are wanting for them to no longer need the intense interventions provided and flourish in a setting with their typically developing peers. The goal of this classroom is to provide them a positive experience within their first years of school so they can move up and no longer need our supports. I want these students to go beyond the bounds of the special education setting and these materials will help them to do so. I’m doing so, these items will provide my students the ability expand upon their daily living, social/emotional, communication, imaginative play, reading, and interpersonal skills with the other students.
