Each of my students have different communication needs and methods of communicating. Many of my students rely on alternative means of communicating. A color printer and laminator will help immensely in making picture exchange systems for my nonverbal students to grab picture cards to hand to others in their environment to communicate with them. I will be making eye gaze boards for students with limited mobility (in wheelchairs) for them to look at pictures of items they are requesting. For my students who use iPads to talk for them, I could easily take the iPad from them to program new vocabulary words/buttons for them to press. At home, the iPad I own is too old for this new tech! A current iPad would enable me to program devices remotely to include new words the families are using.
