My students are currently working with simple, cheap, 4 function calculators in order to get their math work done. Our school, while fantastic and supportive, cannot give me a set of calculators for my classroom alone. I need to have them available to the students for our class and testing. Have you ever tried to do a 5 step budgeting problem on a single line calculator? It's awful. The students can enter just one number wrong and have to start all over! That frustration is rough on them and makes math that much harder. I don't think it needs to be that difficult if we have the right tools for the job!
