PBIS is a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program that fuels a positive learning environment across all school settings. This program typically is funded by the state budget, but this is no longer the case and teachers have been funding this program. We use PBIS to reward positive behavior and track behaviors that could be of concern. Our school rewards students with a Trojan Treat Cart that circulates once a month. It is filled with items chosen by the students and they use their points earned to purchase their favorite items. The items have different point values and the students use problem solving skills to determine what they are willing to spend their points on.They work for these items daily and typically teachers buy the items themselves but would welcome some financial relief! The items purchased through this project will help provide incentives for grades Pre-k through 5th grade to be placed on the Trojan Treat Cart. We have seen the difference our PBIS Trojan Treat Cart has made in our classrooms, school environment, and even at home and would like to continue making positive behavior changes!
