Flexible seating is a proven concept within the classroom that allows students to choose where they are most comfortable learning. Who wants to sit in a desk all day long? Not me or my students! It is proven that students learn best when being able to choose a spot that is most comfortable to them, whether that be standing up, sitting in a chair, on the floor, or on a stool--it is their decision. This actually gives a feeling of empowerment to students which allows them to take more responsibility for their learning. Also, it promotes self regulation and learning to make positive choices for themselves. Having these Hokki stools not only gives my students more options in their flexible seating classroom, but it also keeps the brain stimulated by the continuous movement they experience when sitting on the Hokki stools. I know this would be a great addition to our classroom, both mentally and physically!
