I teach a broad array of classes: AP/IB level, honors, and standard level, meaning that the materials I use need to be rich enough for rigorous analysis as well as approachable for my reluctant readers. My students and I work hard every day to improve core reading, writing, and speaking skills, and we need contemporary, stimulating texts to catch my students' attention and keep them discussing and thinking long after reading. Also, several of my students have family members serving in the military or plan to join themselves, and my school also has an ever-growing English Language Learner and Exceptional Children population, so we serve a diverse group of students on a daily basis. My students deserve the best, so any investment made in them will have great returns! :)
