I have recently begun to use a district purchased program called Nearpod. It is a very interactive way to present information to my students and my classroom engagement is at its highest while using this program. However, since teaching requires movement, I have to become creative when it's time to change slides. I downloaded the Nearpod app onto my personal cellphone to change slides which could be seen as unprofessional. An iPad would prevent the appearance of unprofessionalism by allowing me to change slides from a separate, classroom specific device. In addition, a printer is a basic classroom necessity which I do not currently have due to funding for my site being low. My students will benefit from this iPad Mini because I will be able to use Nearpod for basically EVERY lesson instead of just some without the potential of being seen as being unprofessional for using my personal device, meaning every lesson will be interactive and full of engagement. They really enjoyed Nearpod and were answering the questions I asked accurately. I would love to implement this tool daily for them because I feel it will contribute to their academic success in a major way. A printer will benefit my kids by allowing me to print materials without having to go to the library; it will give them instantaneous access to required materials. Lastly, supplies such as pencils and dry erase markers will allow my classroom to function with less interruptions therefore increasing productivity. Sometimes, while teaching, I have to hunt for working Expo markers or locate a pencil for a student. By increasing my supply of these items, that will be a thing of the past.
