My classroom is set up pretty traditionally with trapezoid tables and chairs. It has a reading area, white board and bulletin boards. The set up of the classroom just doesn't flow. Not every student is meant to just sit in a chair all day long. Most kids need wiggle room. Some students prefer stool type seating some would like to stand. Giving them choices of seating in an organized, updated classroom that has a nice flow with easily accessible materials will promote student growth, independence and allowing them to learn about their own learning style. I can't wait for my students to want to come to school and want to learn because they love their classroom and are comfortable learning in a seat that they are comfortable in!
