In Kindergarten, we teach tolerance, acceptance and respect of others ideas as well as ways to solve problems. Through Fairy Tales students are able to see characters over coming obstacles and problems they encounter. STEM allows students to solve real world problems as they work with classmates to solve problems that are presented to them. Through these challenges students learn to appreciate each others ideas or use them to improve their own ideas. In our project we will have Fairy Tale problems to solve such as building a chair strong enough to hold on of the 3 Little Bears, making a better house for the Three Little Pigs or a strong bridge for the 3 Billy Goats Gruff. The STEM kits will help the students become a part of the Fairy Tales we read. We will ask, imagine, plan, experiment then see how we can improve as we work with others to learn respect and tolerance.
