The art supplies found in this project will be used to teach students how to effectively use drawing media such as graphite pencil, color pencil, oil pastel, and chalk pastel. Students in 3rd through 5th grade will learn how to paint using tempera paints, which are child-friendly and approachable for young artists. Advanced 6th through 8th grade art students will delve into the rich history and techniques that resonate with oil painting and oil-based media. All of the students, Kindergarten through 8th grade, will learn a new method of fiber art, utilizing yarn, ribbon, scraps of fabric, and found materials. Every student, Kindergarten through 8th grade, will learn new ceramics techniques, and the beautiful glazes will accentuate their three-dimensional work. By donating to my project, you are encouraging students in Kindergarten through 8th grade to express themselves through the visual arts, learn creative thinking skills, and engage in the world around them through project-based learning. The students will learn to create artwork with a variety of essential art media and materials, while studying historic and contemporary artists who utilize those same materials. Cross-curricular connections will be emphasized between art, science, social studies, math, and language arts.
