The chosen literature will provide an engaging way for students to self select a topic to go deeper into during a Civil Rights Movement unit in social studies. Students will take what they have learned about informational writing and create two informational chapters: all about the Civil Rights Movement, and then progressing to one on a more focused topic. Students will have to do some intense research in order to spend the time required for the writing portion of this project. The final product will be a small book in which each chapter is written as a different genre of writing .
