My students reflect a multicultural portrait of the surrounding areas. The community in which we learn did not exist over 40 years ago but sprouted up in the 70's when the local oil refinery's workers needed more living space and schools for their children. This area is a popular place for young families and those yearning for a safe and affordable place to raise their children. Many of my students are first or second generation U.S. citizens. We also have a good number of students whose families have been in our country a long time ready to break out of the poverty cycle. Their future could include being the first person in their family to go to college. Everyday I seek to give my students at least 3 new gems of knowledge to inspire them. In turn, my students come to school everyday ready to learn and show plenty of positive attitude. My students are awesome!
