Our dream is to build a school library to serve as a community-building hub that nourishes a culture of literacy at our school. Our library will inspire independent reading, support our teachers’ projects and objectives, provide students with 21st century technological literacy, and offer a space for after-school programming anchored in slam poetry, storytelling, current events, debate, and more. Our library will also lead our parent outreach initiatives, in which we aim to bolster authentic and joyful literacy habits in the home. The AC units we’ve requested will provide a comfortable and welcoming space to support our big dreams. Libraries offer the resources but also the environment to enrich reading, writing, and research habits. We want our students to be excited to enter our doors to discover a safe, serene, and inclusive space ready to embrace their needs and their ambitions. Our library will support students in their academic assignments, and will be especially essential to students who do not have access to technology in their homes. We are always expanding our use of technology in classroom projects and assignments, and our library will enable students without reliable access to technology at home a space to successfully keep up with their peers. Our requested AC units will ensure that the library is a place students look forward to spending their time.
